Totton is a large and thriving town situated on the eastern edge of the New Forest and the western side of the city of Southampton, Hampshire. The geography of the area is d by the tidal mudflats of the Eling Great Marsh, the River Test, and the beginning of the vast wooded heaths of the New Forest National Park. One of the key landmarks in the town is the Eling Tide Mill, one of only a handful of working tide mills remaining in the UK, which has been milling grain on the site for over 900 years. Historically, Totton was also a major hub for the local timber trade and the railway, with the main line between London and Weymouth passing through the town centre.
